Fruits Do Not Get AIDS: A Unique Approach to AIDS Awareness

Designer Pablo Lauria Ubatuba de Faria Fernandez's Innovative Video Campaign

Addressing the pressing issue of AIDS in modern society, particularly among younger generations, designer Pablo Lauria Ubatuba de Faria Fernandez has created a unique video campaign. The video, titled "Fruits Do Not Get AIDS", uses humor and familiar elements to catch the viewer's attention and promote the use of contraceptives.

The Androceu group, under the direction of Fernandez, was approached by Gapa, a group working for HIV prevention in Porto Alegre, Brazil. They were tasked with developing a 30-second video to alert young people about AIDS. The team decided to take a unique approach, using humor to engage the audience and promote awareness about the importance of using contraceptives.

The video was filmed using a Sony A7sII and a fog machine to enhance the beams of light. Post-production was handled using Adobe's software. The final product was a full HD video, with fast cuts giving the impression of a stop motion process.

The team drew inspiration from the widespread use of certain fruit emojis by adolescents and young adults to refer to body parts. This became the main theme of the stop motion video, providing a familiar and humorous element to engage the target audience.

The project was not without its challenges. The team had to find a way to address a serious issue in a non-boring way. The decision to use familiar elements from everyday life and inject humor into the video was a creative solution to this challenge.

The "Fruits Do Not Get AIDS" video was awarded Silver in A' Movie, Video and Animation Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation.

In conclusion, Pablo Lauria Ubatuba de Faria Fernandez and the Androceu group have successfully used design and creativity to address a serious issue. Their innovative approach serves as a reminder of the power of design in communicating important messages in an engaging and effective way.
